Applications are now open for the 2027 Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship, an 8-month program designed to help African students and recent graduates develop entrepreneurial skills, validate business ideas, and build ventures with social and economic impact.

The Fellowship provides world-class entrepreneurship training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and financial support to emerging entrepreneurs across Africa. Participants will gain access to proven startup methodologies, industry experts, and a global community of innovators.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of an African country.
  • Be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution or have graduated within the last five years.
  • Have a strong interest in entrepreneurship and solving real-world challenges.
  • Be able to participate in all phases of the online program.
  • Have reliable internet access and a device suitable for online learning.

 

BENEFITS

  • Access to entrepreneurship training delivered by Queen’s University faculty and industry leaders.
  • Mentorship, networking opportunities, and connections with entrepreneurs and innovation leaders from around the world.
  • Opportunity to earn entrepreneurship micro-credentials from Queen’s University.
  • Up to 60 Fellows will receive a CAD $500 stipend during the final phase of the program.

Applications are now open for the 1,000 Young Entrepreneurs Start-Up Fund 2026, an initiative promoted by Aiducation International to help aspiring entrepreneurs in Kenya transform promising business ideas into viable ventures.
The current Stage 1 competition is designed for young entrepreneurs who have an innovative business idea or an early-stage minimum viable product. No specific sector or theme is required: applicants may propose solutions addressing business, social or community challenges.
Selected entrepreneurs can receive up to US$1,000 in seed funding, together with mentoring, practical business development support and access to a network of entrepreneurs and industry professionals.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must:
  • Be under 30 years of age at the time of application.
  • Be a resident of Kenya.
  • Be able to communicate fluently in English.
  • Have a business idea or an early-stage venture they wish to develop.
  • Be willing to receive feedback, test their idea and improve their business model.
  • Not be employed by Aiducation International or any of its affiliated partners.
Previous participation in an entrepreneurship course, workshop or programme is considered an advantage.

 

BENEFITS

Selected participants may receive:
  • Up to US$1,000 in seed funding to launch or develop their venture.
  • Mentoring from experienced professionals.
  • Support in developing and testing a minimum viable product.
  • Practical guidance to refine their business idea and business model.
  • Access to a network of entrepreneurs, mentors and industry professionals.

 

ELIGIBLE BUSINESS IDEAS

There is no fixed sector or thematic focus. Applicants should present an innovative idea and clearly explain:
  • The problem their business intends to solve.
  • The proposed product or service.
  • The target customers and market opportunity.
  • What makes the idea distinctive.
  • How they plan to develop the venture.
Applications are welcome from entrepreneurs at an early stage, and applicants do not need to have an established business or significant sales.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must prepare:
  • A valid national identity card or passport.
  • Evidence of participation in an entrepreneurship workshop or programme, where applicable.
  • A two-minute video introducing themselves and presenting their motivation, vision and business idea.
  • A business plan of no more than two pages, using either their own format or the template provided by the programme.
The application form also requests information about the proposed start-up, the applicant’s weekly time commitment, and whether the application is submitted individually or as part of a team.

Applications are now open for the D-Prize Interventions Challenge 2026, a global competition that supports entrepreneurs launching new ventures to distribute proven solutions to poverty in low- and middle-income countries. D-Prize provides up to US$20,000 in seed funding to help entrepreneurs pilot new organizations focused on increasing access to evidence-based interventions in areas such as health, education, agriculture, livelihoods, water, and governance. Rather than funding new inventions, D-Prize supports the scale-up and distribution of solutions that have already been proven to improve lives.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must:

  • Be aspiring or early-stage entrepreneurs committed to launching a new organization focused on distributing a proven poverty intervention.
  • Propose a solution that is evidence-based and has demonstrated impact but remains inaccessible to many of the people who need it.
  • Submit a proposal in English through the official D-Prize application platform.
  • Organizations with more than 18 months of full-time operations or that have raised more than US$30,000 may not be eligible.

 

BENEFITS

  • Selected entrepreneurs can receive up to US$20,000 to launch and test their pilot initiative.
  • Funding supports the first stages of implementation, helping founders validate their distribution model and prepare for future growth.
